What is Toddler Treasure Trove, and who is it for?

Toddler Treasure Trove is a collection of activities designed to strengthen language, cognitive, and motor skills in children aged 2 and up. It is not intended to create the most intelligent or academically advanced children, but rather to help each child reach their full potential. The activities reinforce fundamental concepts that will be revisited in early schooling or homeschooling curricula.

This treasure trove is also designed to encourage parent-child bonding. It allows parents to actively engage with their child’s learning, fostering communication skills and strengthening their relationship through interactive play. There is no pressure for young children to learn formal academics before the age of 7, so this resource serves as a tool to introduce play-based learning in a fun and engaging way.

How do I determine the best starting point for my child?

For children aged 18 months and up, it's best to begin with:

• Matching activities (Letters, numbers, and shapes)
• Basic tracing exercises (even if it's just scribbling)
• Flashcards

Once your child is comfortable with these, you can gradually introduce sorting by color and shape, as well as basic counting. Motor skill activities should also be introduced early, even if your child struggles to complete them. Regular practice with tasks such as pegging, using tongs and balls, weaving, and cutting exercises will help improve their fine motor skills over time.

There’s no rush—if your child seems disinterested or playful, simply put the activity away and try again another day. These activities should always be enjoyable!

How will I know when my child has outgrown this resource?

When your child can complete all activities with ease, you can introduce timed challenges to encourage quick thinking. If they consistently complete the tasks in record time for several weeks, it may be time to explore new learning resources.

Can this be used for future children as well?

Yes! Everything in the Treasure Trove is reusable, except for the cutting pages.

Can I use it with more than one child at a time?

Yes! The Treasure Trove works well for multiple children, whether they are the same age or at different developmental levels.

• For twins: Try alternating activities over a few days to keep engagement high.
• For children of different ages: Each child can work on different exercises suited to their level.
